SEOUL - 55-year-old Belgian Eddy Leppens is well on his way to final victory with his team Direct in the PBA team league, the Korean professional competition. The final, which is about ‘best of 7’ is in progress between the teams Direct and Woori Weebies. Direct is leading 3-1. Eddy Leppens' team needs one more win to become the overall winner of the long season with a total of nine teams. Tomorrow, Thursday, another two matches will be played to best of 7 if necessary.
Eddy Leppens has been the star of the Direct team so far, both individually and in doubles with Vietnamese Dinh Nai Ngo. Especially in individual games, Leppens shone in the finals: he played four times against Spaniard David Zapata and won all four. In doubles with Ngo, the competition is balanced: Leppens and Ngo won twice and lost twice.
Direct won the first three encounters against Woori Weebies, took a 3-0 lead and lost only the fourth game today, so the decision is not yet made. Tomorrow, the duel for the overall win will continue.
For Direct, Leppens, Dong Koong Kang, Dinh Nai Ngo, Keon-hwi Cho, Orie Hida and Ji-eun Kang play the games in these finals. Woori Weebies enters with David Zapata, Min-gu Kang, Can Capak, Sruong Pheavy, Han-sol Seo and Min-young Kim.
