NIEUWEGEIN/BERLICUM - Three of eight teams for the Dutch cup final have been announced, the other five final teams are coming from the last decisive matches for the fifth round. The SIS Schoonmaak team qualified last weekend with Dick Jaspers and Eddy Merckx in a nice match against Team Eekhoorn. Furthermore, Stichting Topbiljart Zundert and Cues&Darts 2 are already sure of participation for the cup final, which is played at the Benelux Theatre in Berlicum from 7 to 10 June.
The final with eight teams will be played at two tables in the first three days, the final is at one match table in the arena according to a new system. The first team to win 12 sets in that final is the cup winner. The KNBB (Dutch three cushion federation) has opted for a kind of combination of the Mosconi Cup (pool billiards) and the Ceulemans Cup (Kozoom, Europe-Asia). In case of a tie score in the preliminary rounds of the cup final in the first three days (4-4), there will be a Scotch Double to 15 points and thus no decision based on sets won or caroms made.
The Cues&Darts 2 team will play with Turkish junior world champion Burak Hashas, Frenchman Kevin Vasseur and Monique Wilkowski. Furthermore, there is definitely a team from the 2nd or 3rd division in the cup final, as in Group F the teams of De Peel/Van Esch Biljarts and Stolting Advocatuur/De Laan play each other for the qualification.
