Direct starts finals with a win in PBA against Weeries

SEOUL - The Korean pro league PBA rounds off the team league final in the coming days. Two teams, Direct and Weebies, face each other in a best of 7 encounter. Direct won the first match 4-2 today, Tuesday. The Woori Won Weebies team had qualified for the final on Monday night by winning over Hana Pay, the dethroned title holder. The decisive match between two ladies was won by Sruong Pheavy against multiple tournament winner Ga-young Kim: 9-5.

Woori Weebies had started the match against HanaPay in the decisive set with a perfect score of 11 in the Scotch Double by David Zapata and Min-gu Kang against Coklu and Shin. HanaPay was put on a 3-0 deficit partly due to Min-gu Kang's win against Nguyen Quoc 15-3, then Coklu's team counter attacked with wins for Coklu and Sakai and an individual success by Shin against Zapata 11-8. That made the score 3-2 for Woori Weebies and finally Sruong Pheavy provided the decisive 4-2 score against Ga-young Kim.

The final over best of 7 meanwhile got underway with a 4-2 win for Direct, which has its leading players in Eddy Leppens, Dinh Nai Ngo, Dong Koong Kang, Orie Hida and Ji-eun Kang. The 4-2 win in the first set was partly due to wins by Leppens/Ngo against Zapata/Kang. Eddy Leppens won the match against David Zapata 11-10 and Ji-eun Kang beat Sruong Pheavy 9-6. The second match will be played later today.
