BERGEYK - The team of Burgmans Biljarts from Bergeyk remains in the Dutch premier league. The Brabant foursome won the decisive match against IQ Coach Stefan Lenting 7-1 on Sunday evening. That match was needed to decide promotion and/or relegation. Burgmans Biljarts finished in 10th place in the premier league, the DKM Tools league. IQ Coach Stefan Lenting won the barrage in the first division, which entitled them to the match against Burgmans Biljarts.
Anno de Kleine, Marco Janssen and Johan Roijers won their matches for Burgmans Biljarts, Eddy Leppens played a draw against Murat Gökmen. Marco Janssen was the best winner, beating Rob Lamboo (made a run of 10) 40-33 in 20 innings. Leppens and Gökmen drew in 29 innings. Gökman was first to the finish after runs of 5, 4 and 4 in the closing innings, Leppens equalised with 3. Burgmans Biljarts ended the exciting final weekend in the premier league in 10th place, one point behind Woonwonder, Bousema and J&F Auto's with a team average of 1.212. Even considering the personal problems, with the accident of Bart Ceulemans’ wife and Anno's de Kleine’s back problems due to an accident on holiday, we can be satisfied.''
The quality of the Burgmans team proved too high for IQ Coach Stefan Lenting. The scores were undivided in favor of Burgmans Biljarts in the decisive camp: 40-18, 40-30 and 40-33. ’’Nevertheless, there was tension in the matches,'' Johan Roijers assured. ’’We are happy that we were able to finish it off in the play-off and thus play in the premier league again next season.''
