UMB and Dr. Juanjo Trilles build up new projects

GANDIA - The Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) and the Juanjo Trilles School are preparing a project for installing a Business Process Management System (BPMS) for controlling the UMB Operations. The president of the Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) Mr. Jean Claude Dupont and its vice-president and also president of the Spanish Federation of Billiard D. Fernando Requena, payed a visit on 26 of January under their own initiative to Dr. Juanjo Trilles in his house in Gandía, Spain.

The purpose of the visit was to study possible stimulus to improve the diffusion and social projection of billiards across the world, taking it out of its somewhat lethargic present situation. As a result, several actions were defined in order to start a number of projects that should, on one hand, improve the UMB’s internal organization as well as its communication system with affiliates, press and competent organizations.

And on the other hand, open initiatives to provide this beautiful sport with new orientations in order to make the tournaments and matches more attractive, not only to players but also to spectators. The results of these initiatives should be noticeable in a short time.

Furthermore the UMB announced an agreement of general sponsoring by the Rasson Billiard Company. This Chinese billiard company has an important market share of the world billiard-plate industry. The agreement includes the recognition of the “Rasson plates” material without giving an exclusivity of their material.
 
In this context the UMB also announce the participation into the upcoming GBE billiard expo-convention, that will be held during the month of March 2012 in the town of Guangzhou (Chinese Republic), known for having hosted the last World Games. This event, the GBE convention, is at this moment the most important in the world of billiard commerce. By the participation of UMB into this event the organization wants to underline its intention to be more and more represented in all regions of the world and in this particular case in the Asian region.
 
Finally the absolute high standard of results, performed by the top-players first at all are the consequence of talent, training, physical and mental condition, inventiveness and a better performing material. Therefore UMB wants to set up from its side new standards of quality of the material and this more specifically concerning the billiard tables.

Mr. Thierry Gabriels has been nominated as UMB consultant with the aim to determine objective homologation standards for Carom billiard tables as well as for the maintenance of the material during the UMB-competitions. He will prepare the technical headlines and norms in order to provide UMB with the necessary elements to give the possibility to catalogue and judge about the quality of all billiard tables used during competitions under the flag of UMB.

In a further stage these norms will be given to objective laboratories requesting them to test these materials.

The UMB has the intention to nominate in a later stage other persons for similar purposes.
