Peter Ceulemans before his last match against Jin Pyo Hong

HURGHADA – ,,That is special, isn’t it? Four sets in 9 innings.'' Peter Ceulemans had just finished his quickie match against Korean Jin Pyo Hong, winning 2- 0 and another 1.666 average, like in the afternoon session against another Korean.

Job done, tomorrow waits. ,,I will most likely be nr. 1 of the day, that puts me in a group with Roland Forthomme and Pierre Soumagne?'' That would be special too, an encounter with his Snellen Recycling teammate, who lit up the skies during their home game in Zundert last sunday.

Peter Ceulemans was the best player on the third day of the World Cup in Hurghada. He was relaxed, played with ease, got to grips with the tables and did not even care about his opponents.

,,Two Koreans in my group'', he said smiling, ,,but if they play this early in the tournament, they cannot be that good.''

His brother Bart, never at a loss for words: ,,That’s what those Koreans must have thought about the Ceulemans guy.''

It was remarkable, how Peter Ceulemans excelled as the king of bankshots today. ,,I don’t know how many I have made, but they were all full on target.''

He had the right feel today, and made good use of it. ,,I am not the type of player who is too concerned with position, especially not when things are marching well. I just keep going at a nice pace, and don’t care about the next shot. Usually, when you hit them well, something makeable will be there for you.''

In closing, he said: ,,I have played here seven times now, and it’s no use complaining about the tables. That is what I told myself before the match, and it worked to my advantage. I never had any problems, it all went well from point one.''
