SEOUL - The men's PBA tournament final, today, will be played between David Martinez and Dong Koong Kang. That match is scheduled at 21.00 Korean time, 14.00 in Western Europe. The women's final has already been played and won by Sang-a Kim, a 36-year-old Korean mother of two boys. Dong Koong Kang (44) is in a final for the second time in a row. The previous one he won against 16-year-old Won-young Kim.
David Martinez remained from two Spaniards for the semi-finals. He is in a final match of a PBA tournament for the seventh time and has won four times so far. David Martinez defeated Japan's Yusuke Mori 4-2 in the semi-finals on Monday with set scores 11-15, 15-6, 15-4, 15-10, 13-15 and 15-4, averages 1.867 and 1.227. Dong Koong Kang won in the second semi-final against Javier Palazón in a match that was tied until 3-3. Kang started with 15-10 and 15-13 wins, the Spaniard came back with 15-9, Palazón drew the match again with 15-7 and 15-10 again at 3-3, before Kang won the deciding set 11-6 (averages 1.822 for Kang, 1.911 for Palazón).
The 39th women's event in the PBA history, started with 160 players, was won by Sang-a Kim, who earned 28,000 euros. She beat Da-hee Kim (26), another player without a PBA final win so far, 4-1 (averages 1,140/0,829, 16 double-counting bankshots for the winner, 11 for the losing finalist).
Sang-a Kim defeated Su-bin Jung in the semi-finals 3-1, Da-hee Kim won against Min-young Kim 3-0.
