PRAGUE - 47-year-old Martin Bohac, a player from Brno, has become Czech three-cushion champion for the 8th time in his career. The final was between the same players as last year. Martin Bohac played against Radek Novak and was the winner now. Novak became last year's champion by 40-33 in the final. Martin Bohac was the better player this time and triumphed 40-26 in 23 innings. Radek Novak, player from the organizing club TJ Sokol Zizkov, played the best game of the tournament in the semi-final against Ivo Gazdos from Ostrava. Gazdos made a runb of 10, but still lost 40-13 in 21 innings. Bohac played a solid match against Adam Kozak from Usti nad Labem. He won 40-35 in 44 innings.

Martin Bohac, who lost to eventual winner Martin Horn in the first round at the European Championships in Ankara, did not play a good championship until the final match. In front of the Czech national TV station cameras, Novak was trailing 21-12. He made six and closed the gap, but Bohac immediately made runs of 4 and 10 and finished the match in the 23rd inning. It was by far his best match of the tournament. Martin Bohac is the most successful Czech player with eight national titles. He also has the best results on the international stage, as he beat great players like Caudron, Merckx, Sanchez and Bury and played in the quarter finals at the European Championship 10 years ago.

The champion will be the Czech representative at the world championships in Antwerp in October. Bohac and Novak are playing for the TJ Sokol Zizkov team. Together with Marcel Dirn, Pavel Skop, Tommy Magnussen and Adam Baca, they won the Czech national team competition with a 3-point lead over BC Kladno, which has a strong line-up with Nelin, Schonhoff, Puse, Kozak, Ales and Ettel.

Bohac played his best season ever. His overall average out of 14 matches was 1.391, while Radek Novak realized 1.273. Both teams will participate in the Coupe d'Europe in Porto. Radek Novak has won the cycle of six Grand Prix tournaments for the fifth time in a row this season with an average of 1.202.
