Mário Aranha took the title in a battle with eight

PORTO - The 69-year-old Mário Aranha is the new Portuguese champion in three cushion. The player from Fenianos Club Portuense was the strongest in the final round with eight players.

With twenty points and an average of 1.077 the veteran finished ahead of Rui Costa, who was second with 1.262 and Vasco Gomes with 0.993.

The deciding match between Mário Aranha and Rui Costa was won with a big margin by the new champion: he defeated his opponent 50-28 in 29 innings.

One of the best matches of the tournament was the duel between Rui Costa and Paulo Andrade, won by Rui Costa 50-45 in 30 innings.
