CALTANISSETTA/SICILIA - Marco Zanetti has captured his 32nd Italian title in three-cushion in Sicily. The final at the championship, played with 32 players, was a clash of two generations. Marco Zanetti (62) beat Alessio D'Agata (24) 40-25 in 27/26 innings. The multiple champion had 1.297 on average with a best run of 8. Zanetti was the better of Notarrio in the semis, Agatha beat Ferrara.

His country's renewed title keeps Zanetti in the top 12 of the UMB Events ranking, where he is 11th with 240 points, just ahead of Torbjörn Blomdahl (12th) and Haeng Jik Kim (13th).

The Italian championship was played in Caltanissetta. Marco Zanetti has been unbeatable in his own country for many years. The last time he lost the championship was in 2007.

On the podium this year, apart from Marco Zanetti and Alessio D'Agata, were Italian sub top players Michele Notarrigo and Giuseppe Ferrara. Some well-known players finished low in the standings such as Emilio Sciacca (11th), Salvatore Papa (18) and Francesco Orlando (20).
