The BC Elversberg team secured the title last Saturday with Peter Ceulemans, Thorsten Frings, Frédéric Caudron, Klaus Bernhard Bosel and team captain Volker Marx

ELVERSBERG - BC Elversberg's team won the German team title in the bundeslia three-cushion at two matches from the end. The championship was secured on Saturday after its 5-3 victory over Weywiesen. That put the main rival on a margin that could not be overtaken in the three remaining matches. On Sunday, Elversberg also won 6-2 vs Elfenbein. For Peter Ceulemans, it was already the fifth championship with Elversberg, the team that has been unbeatable this season. The champions won all but one match 4-4: in the seventh round against Elfenbein Höntrop, when Caudron and Legazpi won for Elversberg and Thorsten Frings and Klaus Bernhard Bosel lost to Stefan and Markus Galla. All other matches were won. Nine times out of 18 games so far, Elversberg even won by the maximum 8-0 score: against Witten (2x), Nied, St Wendel (2x), Weywiesen, International, Munich and Buer.

The championship was secured with the two German players Bosel and Frings playing all matches. Further players fort he team were Peter Ceulemans (5x), Fréderic Caudron, Ruben Legazpi and Michael Nilsson (4x), Glenn Hofman (3), Maxime Panaia (2) and Jef Philipoom (1).

The double weekend at two games from the end saw a 5-3 win over Weywiesen: Peter Ceulemans clinched the championship point by a victory over Roland Forthomme 50-47 in 32, Thorsten Frings beat Christian Rudolph 40-36 in 36, Frédéric Caudron lost to Torbjörn Blomdahl 50-44 in 28 and Klaus Bernhard Bosel played a draw against Amir Ibraimov in 36 innings. On Sunday in the 18th round of play, Caudron won against Tachoire (50-26 in 16), Legazpi vs Jäschke (50-36 in 37) and Bosel vs Markus Galla (40-28 in 34). Thorsten Frings was beaten by Stefan Galla 40-29 in 31.

BC Elversberg will make its championship tour in the last two matches against BC Munich away and BC International away on 10 and 11 May.
