Dutch cup holder already in semifinals

ZUNDERT - The Dutch cup winner last year, TOVV.nl/MCR, has already qualified for the semi-finals in this year’s tournament. Two victories with the maximum score (twice 8-0) provides access to the knock-out round. The Vlaardingen team leads sovereign in Group A, in which they meet A1 Biljarts in the last match.

Eddy Merckx led his team to the qualification with a super match against Ronny Lindemann, playing 1.731 average and performing a run of fourteen.

The cup holder, which defeated Holland Mineraal in last year’s final, lost only three sets in eight matches so far. Richard Bitalis lost two sets, Dave Christiani won 2-1 against Wiljan van den Heuvel.

TOVV leads with four match points after two rounds and 21-3 in sets, ahead of A1 Biljarts with three points and 16-8 in sets. Post Luchtkanalen with a one match point has just a tiny little chance with 8-16 as negative set balance.

De Eekhoorn has been eliminated after two losses. A1 Biljarts bested the Oosterhout team 8-0.

Dallinga/Frans Bevers, Landswelvaren/Iets Anders and Holland Mineraal are vying for two places in Group A. Dallinga and Holland Mineraal shared the points in the second round, Landswelvaren won 8-0 against Hultermans.

Ronnie Daniels recorded a 3-0 win against Dingeman Picocrie, Francis Forton (against Jack Wijnen), Henk Habraken (against Willie Damen) and Kees Wittens (against Bart Hultermans) won 2-1 and the team in the race for qualification.

Dallinga leads the group with three points out of two matches and 18-6 in sets, Landswelvaren has three points and 15-9, Holland Mineraal two out of two with 11-13 in sets.

Landswelvaren meets Dallinga in the last evening session today. That game will be played simultaneously on four tables.
