uyetDONGHEA - The best Asian billiard players will play for the championship in the next two days. Korean Jun Tae Kim defends the title he won last year in the final against Haeng Jik Kim and Vietnamese Phuong Vinh Bao, among others. The tournament starts tomorrow, Thursday, in Donghea with 32 players. Friday are the final matches.
At stake is the Asian title as well as ranking points for the league table. The winner gets 80 points, the number two 54 and so on.
The participants come from three countries: Korea, Vietnam and Japan.
Playing for Korea are Jun Tae Kim, Haeng Jik Kim, Myung Woo Cho, Jung Han Heo, Hyuk Son Jun, Chang Hoon Seo, Min Suk Kim, Jin Hoo Heo, Boom Yeol Lee, Su Yong Park and Myeong Jong Cha.
For Vietnam: Quyet Chien Tran, Phuong Vinh Bao, Duc Minh Tran, Hong Chiem Thai, Thanh Luc Tran, Nguyen Phong Hoai, Van tui Nguyen, Thanh Tien Le, Hoang Hung Ho.
For Japan: Ryuuji Umeda, Shota Funaki, Takao Miyashita, Tatsuo Arai, Takashima O, Tomotaka Takashashi, Takamasa Hagiwara, Satoni Yoneyama, Youichirou Mori, Joji Kaj.
The preliminary rounds will be played in pools of four, followed by the knockouts.
