HURGHADA - The Turkish clash between Adnan Yüksel and Lütfi Cenet, in the first session of the final qualification day, outclassed all the matches in the previous days. Yüksel's 2-0 victory was brilliant: the Turk, who played the final in the World Cup of Sluiskil in 2006 and lost against Dick Jaspers (3-2), entertained the full house with a brilliant match.
The 49-year old player, who has a billiardplace in the center of Istanbul and was three times champion of Turkey, had a flying start with 15-3 in four innings, was defeated in the second by a final run of six (8-15), but overwhelmed his opponent in the deciding set with a starting run of twelve and a setwin of 15-0 in two innings (averages 2.714/1.384). Therese Klompenhouwer will be the next opponent for Lütfi Cenet.
Jean Paul de Bruijn played a very lucky match against In-Won Kang. The Dutchman could have lost in the final stage. His second last match was a curious, lucky shot, thereafter he missed the matchball. In-Won Kang couldn't take his chance: he also missed the ball for the match. De Bruijn eventually finished 15-14 in 14 innings. Third man in this group is Javier Palazón.
On the other table Peter de Backer and Raimond Burgman played a match that also ended in a thriller. Both players had their chances to win the match. Raimond Burgman missed his matchbal on a millimeter, De Backer answered with the decisive carom (averages 1.500/1.357).
