APELDOORN - Swedish player Michael Nilsson, one of the main players in the team of A1 Biljarts, must immediately leave the Dutch champion team. He is fired by the sponsor (Wienk Addy), who is also a player at the Apeldoorn squad.
Michael Nilsson reacts that he is ,,sick and tired of Addie Wienk'' and that he is a liar, because Wienk does not want to observe the agreements. ,,I play with Dion Nelin in A1, sometimes we play together, sometimes only one of us is in the line-up. We have a program telling us which games we must play, but Wienk is constantly changing the compostion, sometimes every two weeks.''
A1 Biljarts was the surprising champion in the premier league last season, beating the favorites Dallinga, TOVV and Holland Mineraal in the play-offs weekend. Dion Nelin, Michael Nilsson and Raimond Burgman were the top three players in that team.
Before the new season, new agreements were made about the team composition.
Addie Wienk: ,,Michael Nilsson knew exactly when he had to play, but something has changed in his private situation this year. That means he suddenly does not want to play the matches in which we want him in our line-up. For us, that's not enough, we cannot agree with it. So I told him we don't want him to play anymore, he has to leave the team directly. That's a decision we took together with the sponsors. Michael gave me the impression that he lost a bit of his motivation to play in the Netherlands. It's a pity that he calle me a liar, we had some good years together. And I wish him all the best.''
Michael Nilsson: ,,That's not the truth, not at all. I'm devorced in August this year and live with my two daughters in Svedala. My son of two-and-half lives with my ex-wife, but I rarely see him, only a few hours per week. I therefore told Addie Wienk: I want to be with my son more than I was until now, so I want to play less matches. Before January I was available every week, thereafter only three matches.''
The Swede denies that his team in Germany, where he played lst Sunday in the bundesliga, has anything to do with his sudden discharge. ,,We had good agreements for the weekends I had to play in the Netherlands and Germany, so that's not the problem. The only reason was my private situation, because I want to see my son.''
The resignation came unexpectedly for the seven-time world champion teams (with Torbjörn Blomdahl). He nevertheless says: ,,I am very angry, I'm sick of Addie Wienk, but I'm glad that the game is over there.''
,,There's always something wrong in the planning. An example: in the double weekend 1 and 2 December, Nelin would play two matches and I did not have to perform. But we now suddenly were informd that I play both matches and Dion only on Saturday. That's what I want to say: he changed it every time.''
Michael Nilsson was playing for four years in the A1 team, he played for six years in the Dutch league.
A1 Biljarts will continue with the current team: Dion Nelin, Raimond Burgman, Henk Blauwblomme, Martien van der Spoel and the substitutes Ronny Brants and Addy Wienk.
