AARHUS - On the early Danish morning, the first teams will start tomorrow (Tuesday 1 April) in the battle for the Women's European championship for nation teams. The Greek team opens against France at 10.00 and Austria plays Denmark 2 at the same time. Twelve teams in total will be in action of which the Netherlands with Therese Klompenhouwer and Karina Jetten is the title holder. The other contenders for the podium include Denmark, Turkey and Belgium. The national championship lasts for two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, one day later the individual championship starts with Therese Klompenhouwer as the defending champion. This European women's championship lasts three days: Thursday 3 to Saturday 5 April.
Therese Klompenhouwer is going for the double and for her 12th European title. The Dutch woman first became European champion in 2005 and did not miss a single title after that. Therese assures: ’’Of course I want to prolong my title, but I also value the Nations championship in which I play with Karina (Jetten). It’s wonderful to celebrate success for your country together.‘’
