PORTO - The young Portuguese Joao Ferreira took the fourth tournament counting for the national three cushion title. The tournament was played at the Billiard Academy of Porto with the participation of the sixteen best players from the country. Ferreira defeated the veteran player Paolo Andrade in the final 40-36 in 38 innings.
The tournament winner finished with 1.481 average and among others an excellent match against his teammate Rui Costa from Porto: 40-19 in 13 innings, a personal record. Ferreira also produced the highest run of the tournament: 14, which is also a personal best.
In his eight matches Ferreira remained unbeaten. Paolo Andrade was a remarkable finalist, in nine matches, seven wins and two defeats.
After this fourth event, Rui Costa and Joao Pedro Ferreira are in the lead in Portugal. The two top players from Porto will play the European Cup this year with Torbjörn Blomdahl and Dani Sánchez.
