High level for Caudron, half a misstep for the leader

WAALWIJK - The top match in the highest division between Crystal Kelly and Van Donge en De Roo is next week on the agenda in the Netherlands. The pressure is on for the two main contenders for the title, who tie in points after seven rounds. The team of Crystal Kelly today lost the first point of this competition against Snellen Recycling, despite a world match of Frederic Caudron. The team leader finished against Roland Forthomme in sixteen innings with 50-28.

The impressive winner showed a great regularity in his performance. With a run of ten Caudron took the lead in the third inning, but at 14-14 and 19-19 the score was closed again. Then Caudron attacked another time with small runs, he took an advantage with runs of seven, five, five and reached the cliff of fifty after only sixteen innings. Forthomm, stopped by the hurricane, could only sit on his chair and watch in the last innings.

Frédéric Caudron and Raymond Ceulemans gathered the points, which were lost by Frans van Kuijk (against Peter Ceulemans) and Raimond Burgman (Barry van Beers). Team leader Carel Okhuyzen afterwards said: ,,Frans was not in his best shape, Raimond took a big adventage (46-32), but then had five misses and saw Barry van Beers come back in the match.’’ The Snellen player even finished in the 39th inning, Burgman had the equalizer, but missed again. Frank Martens was the most remarkable winner in the match between Emar Logistics and champion Van Donge en De Roo. De Dutchman defeated his Swedisch opponent Torbjörn Blomdahl with 50-37 in 32 innings. Jaspers, Van Erp and Horn took the victory for their team. Jack Wines made the highest run of the day: eleven.

Delta/Fast, the team from Sluiskil, has a very disappointing start of the competition and again could not grab the win. The two players on billiard one and two failed again. Eddy Leppens langhuished in an early stage of the match against Eddy Merckx, who got, including a run of fourteen in the third inning, no opposition from Leppens (50-25 in 23 innings).

Dave Christiani almost reached the barrier of 2.000 average. He defeated Jean Paul de Bruijn with dry digits (50-31). Peter de Backer made a run of twelve for Delta, Glen Hofman shined with a run of ten against Emilio Sciacca and a great average (50-35 in 26 innings).

Twentevisie surprised with a 6-2 victory on A1 Billiarts. Michael Nilsson lost his match after an unbeaten period. Christian Rudolph defeated the Swede 50-39.

DBL Holland Mineraal and De Vrachtkar shared the points with a wonderful playing Wesley Jaeger on billiard two two De Vrachtkar (50 in 24 innings).

Dekker Keukens missed the win against Verbrugge Terminals on one carom. John Tijssens could not make the acquit in the equalizer against Ronny Daniels.
