PORTO - The best of three Dutch winners took revenge for his poor previous performance in the World Cups. Barry van Beers wanted to get rid of his failure in Luxor and started with lots of ambitions in Porto. With two wonderful wins, in 14 and 21 innings against Manuel Santos Oliveira and Mikaël Devogelaere (1.714 average), the Dutchman topped the ranking on day two. The day was coloured Dutch and Spanish day in the Portuguese port city. Faraco Jaime Sanchez, the most unknown in the Spanish bunch, made a thirteen-run, the best of the second day, Antonio Montes, Alfonso Legazpi and Carlos Crespo completed the Spanish success.
Dave Christiani (Netherlands) was also among the best winners. Glenn Hofman escaped with a final run of four against Fernando Tomas and was the third of the Orange team for the next session. Carlos Crespo repaired a poor start in his second match. Jose Maria Mas, Ahmet Bayatli and Jakop Sörensen, three of the other known players in the field, were send home.
Gülsen Degener took the star role in the last sessions of the day. The Turkish leading lady started with an anonymous win over Sylvia Eckel (30-18 in 54 innings), but then surprised the young Frenchman Gwendal Marechal, whom she left far behind, 30-16 in 28 innings.
The Korean William Oh outplayed one of the famous Danes, Jakop Sörensen (30-25 in 23) with a strong final shot. Chang Hoon Seo shared the win with Manol Minaoglu in their second match, but was qualified by a better average. Wan Young Choi (wins over Paulo Andrade and Eric Brousses) was among the best winners like Thomas Andersen. Dave Christiani was the most regular winner of the entire field with two wins in 20 innings.
