Tonny Carlsen is a candidate for the Danish title.

COPENHAGEN - The club of Grøndal once again is hosting one of the major events on the Danish calendar. The experience from a very well organized play-offs, two weeks ago, can be repeated in the newly rebuilt surroundings of the club of the reigning Danish team champions Grøndal, situated a bit outside the center of Copenhagen.

With a field of 16 players divided into 4 groups of 4 the playing format will be best of 3 winning sets to 15 points. After the preliminary rounds of 24 matches all group winners and second placed players will be seeded according to the results into the 1/4 finals, number 1 against number 8 etc.
Among the favorites we may recognize former champions as Tonny Carlsen and Jacob Haack Sørensen, but the 1st seeded player is the coming man, Thomas Andersen from Randers, (the home town of Tonny Carlsen).

Thomas Andersen was once the finalist three years ago, but lost in a thrilling final to Dion Nelin, whom we are missing in this year’s edition as well as the defending champion, Brian Zola Hansen and the former champion, Brian Knudsen.

Still we are all expecting a big clash among the players for the title. The field is a great mixture of experienced player, new coming players and debutants. It might look like a walk in the park for the favorites to qualify for the knock-out rounds, but at national championships you can always expect the unexpected to happen. The land of surprises is still open territory, the coming three days will prove that.

The groups are:
A: Thomas Andersen (Randers BK), Poul Bjerring (Bristol), Steen Petersen (Albertsland BK), Thomas Andersen (Naestved BK).
B: Michael Soberg (Naestved), René Hdnriksen (Gröndal), Fleming Grss (Randers BK), Jacob Haaeck Sörensen (Gröndal)
C:Tonny Carlsen (Gröndal), René Poulsen (Randers), Sören Andersen (Albertslund), Michael Tudahl (Vejle BK).
D: Lars Dunch (Gröndal), Thomas Knudsen (Bristol), Danny Sörensen (Randers), Allan Lys Jensen (Naested).
