CHARTRES - The billiard team of Chartres, with its strong line-up Xavier Gretillat, Willy Gérimont and Jacky Justice, managed to take the French titel classic games for the second time in a row. The three some defeated Oissel with Johann Petit, Benoît Legros and Arnim Kahofer in the final match (5-1). Benoît Legros took the only win for the silver medalists by a draw against Willy Gérimont, 250 in four innings.
Xavier Gretillat was the best man in the tournament, taking his third win in the final when he beat Johann Petit in the balk-line 71/2: 200-98 in four innings. The Swiss finished in this discipline with 60.00 average. Jacky Justice, 8.37 average in one cushion, was the two times winner in his team against Bernard Baudoin (Andernos) and bested Arnim Kahofer in the final 120-104 in 14.
Gretillat and Justice were the most successful players for their team with six out of six. Willy Gérimont lost the double meeting with Nicolas Gérassimopoulos, 250-85 and 150-143 and played a draw in the final against Legros.
Oissel reached the final by a win in the semis over Soissons (Patrick Dupont, Pierre Soumagne and Alain Remond) 6-0 and 2-4.
The match for the third place was won by Soissons, that beat Andernos defeated 4-2.
