CERVERA - Nobody is better than the master himself in switching from three-cushion to one cushion or to other disciplines. Frédéric Caudron has so often shown it in the Belgian championship, where he won many titles in all games of billiards.
The wonderboy in all dicipline demonstrated his superb class in the European championships one cushion today. The Belgian didn't have a special start, yesterday, with 125 caroms in 12 innings, but excelled in his second performance. Caudron only needed two innings to beat his French opponent Bernard Baudoin: the scoreboard pointed 125-45 after a starting run of 54 and a great finish with 71.
Caudron is one of the players who have qualified already for the quarterfinals. Baudoin, however, is not out of contention for a place in the next round. He plays his last match against Alvaro Gomez, who, like the Frenchman, has two match points in two matches.
Jean Paul de Bruijn was in a desperate situation in his second match for his group against Laurent Guenet. The Frenchman led after twelve innings 119-82. He failed to finish the game and saw his Dutch opponent win the match with innings of 28 and 15: 125-120 in thirteen.
Gregory le Deventec has seeded for next round with two victories. In his group Esteve Mata won his match and has to keep his best guns for his last match.
Xavier Le Roy is the leader in Group E after two victories.
