LUXOR - The Koreans Choong-Bok Lee and Hyung Bum Hwang were the leaders of the ranking on the last qualification before the final round in the World Cup of Luxor. The Vietnamese Ngo Dinh Nai was the third Asian in the format with sixteen group winners.
The Turks were the best represented with four players. Javier Teran was the only South American.
The sixteen group winners were joined by three runners-up for the final round. Tolgahan Kiraz and Arnim Kahofer earned a place on the basis of match points. Both players collected three match points. Kiraz played a draw against Jean Paul de Bruijn, Kahofer against Adnan Yüksel.
The Korean Jae Ho Cho, winner of the first World Cup this year, was the third player who showed up as a runner up. Christian Rudolph missed the final round when Adnan Yüksel equalized with two caroms against Kahofer. Then Rudolph was off.
