LUXOR - Three Turkish players of the sixteen in total were in the top three after the second day at the World Cup in Luxor. Tuncay Aslan led with 1.395 ahead of Mulazim Guner with 1.363 and Hakan Incekara with 1.304. The 44-year-old Italian Emilio Sciacca, who's living in the Netherlands already for sixteen years, but was born in Palermo, closed the day with a beautiful rush of nine to the finish. Thereby he outplayed the Austrian Herbert Thuer.
The Turkish festival marked a day without many highlights. Hesham Gomaa sparkled with a run of ten in his group, Hakan Incekara played a match in seventeen innings (1.764) and Sciacca switched from a moderate match to a higher speed with his final run.
The Sicilian is not a stranger in the World Cups. He reached the main tournament four times, twice in Sluiskil and twice in Hurghada. ,,The changeover from sets to the full length of forty points was not good for me'', he says. ,,That's why I played not so many World Cups in recent years. In sets, I could battle against players with a better technique.''
The silver medalist of the World Junior championship in Sluiskil, the 16-year-old Korean Myung-Woo Cho, advanced to the next round with two wins and 1.176 average.
