SITTARD - With a nice warm-up in the Grand Prix of Sittard, a number of the Dutch three-cushion top players enter the third round of the premier league, the Kozoom league, one day later. Wonderful encounters are scheduled for Sunday in this round of play, as some foreign cracks are also in the game like Eddy Merckx, Martin Horn, Ruben Legazpi, Roland Forthomme, Peter Ceulemans, Eddy Leppens, Birol Uymaz, Sergio Jimenez, Jef Philipoom and Peter De Backer. The match between Cues&Darts and Bousema promised to be a real topmatch, with the very interesting match between Martin Horn and Glenn Hofman in the spotlight on centercourt. The other Dutch top player in this match, Jeffrey Jorissen, plays against Ruben Legazpi, Belgians Jef Philipoom and Johan Loncelle meet 'on three' and Huub Wilkowski faces German Stefan Galla.
What about Eddy Merckx against Jean Paul de Bruijn in SIS Schoonmaak's home match to meet Dallinga? The Belgian is playing his first match this season and surely wants a good result. SIS Schoonmaak further plays with Raimond Burgman, looking for revenge for his early elimination in the Grand Prix of Sittard, Raymund Swertz and Martien van der Spoel.
Roland Forthomme gets his next ticket for a home match with STZ Zundert against Aartsbouw Sprundel. Sergio Jimenez, sensational winner of the first Grand Prix in Spain, plays number two at Zundert, which deploys a strong team with further Thorsten Frings and Sam van Etten. Aartsbouw will play with Belgians Brants, Weeremans, Persyn and Brabander Ad Broeders.
J&F Auto's goes into the tricky away match against Dekker and wants to get away from the bottom ranks. Kay de Zwart (on 1) opposes Dave Christiani and will be looking for the form he lacks in these first weeks. Joey de Kok and Therese Klompenhouwer go into a battle with the dreaded routines Barry van Beers and Gerwin Valentijn. Herman van Daalen meets Henk Blauwblomme.
Team Eekhoorn opposes Team Nachtwacht in an Oosterhout derby. Two Dutchmen and two Belgians for Eekhoorn will battle it out with four Dutchmen from Team Nachtwacht. Let’s see if Kurt Ceulemans (against Frank Martens) can maintain the superb form he demonstrated in the Belgian competition this week.
The PBA clash with Eddy Leppens and Birol Uymaz will get all the attention in the match between Burgmans Biljarts and DKM Tools, where an international company will enter the arena: four Belgians, two Dutch, one German and one Turk.
