GURI - The twenty year old Frenchman Adrien Tachoire defends his junior world title in three cushion from 3 to 5 September in Guri (South Korea). The sixteen players for the championship were announced this week. The European champion Berkay Karakurt and the Koreans Muyngwoo Cho (already two times on the podium) and Jun Tae Kim are the main competitors for the title holder.
The European representation is the biggest with eight players, followed by Asia with four players, South America with three and Africa with one player.
The tournament will be held at the Guri Gymnasium in Guri, where also the next World Cup is played from 7 to September 13. Mr. Steve Lee is the tournament director, Farouk Barki the representative of the UMB, the world federation.
Sixteen players compete in the preselection for eight places in the knockout stage. Adrien Tachoire, Berkay KarakKurt, Manuel Lindao and Yusuke Mori are the group leaders. 17-year-old Korean super talent Myungwoo Cho is on the start list with 1.647 of average, which he played during the qualifying competition in his country.
Adrien Tachoire meets in his group the Turk Arda Gungor, Egyptian Mahmou Ayman and Patrick Butora from Austria. Mungwoo Cho and Berkay Karakurt face each other in the group stage, where they also meet Colombian David Steven Mogollon and the Belgian Geoffrey Dresselaerts.
Manuel Lindao from Ecuador, the Pan American junior champion, battles is out in the group with Matthieu Franck, Joao Ferreira and Jung Ju Shin. The only Spaniard, Jesus Rico, is divided in a strong group with Jun Tae Kim, Camilo Sarmiento Andreas and Yusuke Mori.
The preliminaries will be played to 25 points with equalizing inning, the final round with eight players to thirty points, equalizing inning and penalty shootouts.
