BAD WILDUNGEN – Steffi Träm retained her German three-cushion billiards title in Bad Wildungen. In a group of six players, Träm gathered 8 match points, along with Jennifer Assmann and Christine Shuh. Steffi Träm, the player with the most international experience and 23 titles in Germany, won the championship on average.
The men's championship starts Thursday with eight groups, with Martin Horn as the overwhelming favorite. Other known players in the draw include Ronny Lindemann, Amir Ibraimov, Tom Löwe, Lukas Stamm, and Tobias Bouerdick. The final is on Sunday.
The six women's players competed in a full competition, playing to 25-caroms. Steffi Träm started with a win over Tanja Müller (25-8), then defeated Stephanie Lenz 25-14, Jennifer Assmann 25-10, and finally Finn Marie Möller 25-12.
In the final round, the championship returned to a tense state, as Steffi Träm lost to Christine Schuh 22-25. Consequently, Träm, Schuh, and Assmann all finished with 8 match points.
Steffi Träm was by far the strongest on average with 0.824. Jennifer Assmann took silver with 0.587, and Christine Schuh took bronze with 0.588. Steffi Träm also became the small-table champion.
Earlier this week, Amir Ibraimov won the under-25 final against his older brother Ali 40-25 in 37 innings. In the semi-finals, Amir Ibraimov beat Lucas Egert 40-32 in 40, Ali Ibraimov defeated Jakob Ide 40-22 in 50.
