Snow and ice disorder twelfth round in Holland

The twelfth round in the Dutch league today was disorderd by snow and ice on the roads. Only two matches were played. About the third match, there were a lot of misunderstandings. The Dutch federation will have the last word.

De Vrachtkar wanted to play the home match against Dekker Keukens, the visitors, with Jef Philipoom, who had to come from Belgium, refused to come, because traveling was to dangerous, they said. Jef Philipoom: ,,We don't want to risk an accident for a match we can play another day. They cannot force me to make the long trip through snow and ice.''

The sports director of the competition has to decide about the final result: will it be a regular 8-0 win for De Vrachtkar, or will the match been canceled? There was still a lot of commotion about the decision this evening.

The leader, Van Donge en De Roo, traveled to Vlaardingen for the away match against TOVV.nl / MCR and returned with a 8-0 victory. Dick Jaspers defeated Eddy Merckx 50-37 in 25 innings, Torbjörn Blomdahl had no problems with Dave Christiani (50-28 in 24), Martin Horn beat Richard Bitalis (50-42 in 27) and Ad Koorevaar defeated Emilio Sciacca (50-32 in 39).

The subtop team of Snellen Recycling spoiled important points. The Zundert team lost the away match against Twentevisie 6-2, a score nobody had expected. Roland Forthomme could have balanced the match, but he lost his match against Christian Rudolph at one point (50-49 in 36 innings).

Peter Ceulemans didn't have his finest day against Anno de Kleine (50-39 in 40), Barry van Beers lost on Saturday his match in Germany and now was defeated by Dave van Geel (50-32 in 40), only Harrie van de Ven grabbed a win for Snellen against Stefan Lenting.
