GYEONGJU – The Belgian player Frédéric Caudron, the big star in the PBA pro league, was eliminated without any chance in the first round of the first PBA event. He lost 3-0 in his first match of the new season with an average below 1. Dani Sánchez's as well start did not turn out to be what he himself expected. The Spaniard was eliminated in the first round of the Blue One Resort tournament, the first of the new season. Korean Deuk-hee Hwang won 3-1, playing 1.429 on average against Sánchez 0.971.
Dani Sánchez switched from UMB to the PBA league at the start of this summer, the same did Semih Sayginer, Murat Naci Coklu and Korean Sung won Choi, among others.
Frédéric Caudron made an important move for this new season: he quit after 10 years with his major sponsor Kimchi, with whom he started his Korean adventures. In his first appearance without a Kimchi sticker, the Belgian failed to get through the first round with 128 players. The lights went out him against Seok hyun Yoon, who was the better player in three sets: 3-0. Caudron, like Sánchez, did not reach the 1 average: 0.923.
The first three Turks are also already out of the game. Murat Naci Coklu lost to Dong-jun Park in the penalties (1.200 on average), Can Capak and Birol Uymaz were also knocked out of the first round by penalties.
One of the first European winners was Juan David Zapata, who won by penalties against Jae-hong Lee. The first round is still in full swing: among others, Lütfi Cenet is still in action against Antonio Montes. David Martinez, Semih Sayginer and Eddy Leppens are awaiting their first game.
A notable loser in the first round was Sung-won Choi, the only Korean world champion at the UMB. He was eliminated by Han-Ki Park 3-1.
