The owner of Biljartclub Osdorp from Amsterdam, Sander Jonen, broke a new record: for the first time in history a player won 2 consecutive major artistic championships (aramith). In 2009 he beat Xavier Fonellosa (ESP) during the final of the European Championships in Grubbenvorst (NED) and 2 years later nobody could beat him in Florange (FRA) during the World Championships.
During these timeframe it was rather strange that Sander Jonen was not able to win a Dutch Championship, the activities belonging to owning a Biljartclub and a floorselling company made him an outsider. But it was Jonen who dictated the WC from the beginning, playing a good percentage and having the proper attitude, all spectators agreed upon Jonen to be the Top-favourit. "I'm the type of guy who can perform well during big tournaments, I need the pressure as well as the strongest possible opponents. Lately I started to extend my training hours and it worked out well, I'm in the perfect shape at the right moment", according to the World Champion 2011.
During a thrilling final against the suprising Bernd Singer (GER), it was Jonen who had to get it out of his toes. Singer took a 2-1 lead in sets and then the nerves played him part, this was the moment for Jonen to stand up and score most of the points. It took Jonen 2.5 hours and 5 sets to get Singer on his knees;

Singer can look back on a fantastic tournament and a great comeback on international level, after quitting to play artistic for some years het started again a few years ago. Singer used to be a respectfull player during the period ivory balls had been used. Since the introduction of plastic, this was his best result ever.
