PARIS - The first mission has been done. Robinson Morales, 43-year-old Colombian billiard player, won his match against Martin Horn 40-39 in 19 innings in the French competition on Friday evening, after the German had finished one carom from a tie score in the equalizer with a run of 11. The Colombian, playing for Saint Quentin in France, continues his European tour today (Saturday) after spending more than two months in Colombia, including a short trip to Mexico.
This Saturday (today), Robinson will play in Madrid in an event for the 30th anniversary of his Spanish club: Madrid Escuela Nacional. The participants, apart from the jubilarian: Club Billar Castalla, Seleccion Madrilena Billar and his own team, Madrid Escuela 1 and 2.
Tomorrow, Sunday, Robinson will show up in the Netherlands with the Cues&Darts team for the premier league against Dekker (Robinson-Barry van Beers). On Monday, the Colombian is the leading player in his new team in Belgium: De Leug. The ultra-short tour will take Robinson from Paris to Madrid and from Madrid to Amsterdam in three days. ''I am a professional player, so I want to earn money and play competition,'' he assures from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris early this Saturday morning.
''I am happy with my teams in the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Germany,'' Robinson Morales said. ''Also I will compete in all World Cups, the first of which will be in Veghel next month.''
With his French team Saint Quentin, Robinson won 6-2 over Soissons, the big contender in the French competition, on Friday night. Pierre Soumagne, also Robinson's teammate in the Netherlands and Belgium, beat Johan Loncelle 40-29 in 21 innings.
