MEDELLIN - The teams of Colombia A and the USA start the team finals at the Pan American championships today (Tuesday) in Medellin. Two protagonists of the individual championship, Henry Diaz and Pedro Piedrabuena, meet each other in that quarter final match. The other match is between Hugo Patino and Jhon Fredy Martinez. The Colombians are with five teams in the quarterfinals, the other three teams are USA (Pedro Piedrabuena and Hugo Patino), Peru (Ramon Rodriguez and Guido Saco) and Ecuador (Aveiga Luis and Javier Terán).
Henry Diaz had a very poor start in the team qualifications, the day after he won the individual title. The small Colombian lost in the group his two matches: against Carlos Campino from the Colombian D team 30-11 in 14 innings (Campino 2.143) and against Eric Tellez from Costa Rica 30-18 in 21.
In Group A, the Americans remained unbeaten in duels with Peru and Ecuador: Piedrabuena and Patino defeated Maximo Aguirre and Jose Torreblanca and in the match against Ecuador the Rubio's Jorge and Ronald. Heriberto Aristizabal suffered a big defeat vs Guillermo Perez from Argentina (30-12 in 24) and then played a draw against Manuel Lindao from Ecuador B. Gabriel Vascquez won and lost a match for Colombia B.
Luis Aveiga and Javier Terán won their group matches against Costa Rica and Panama. Aveiga suffered one loss against Carlos Nunez in 30-18. Ramon Rodriguez and Guido Saco won their two matches in Group F.
