LAUDERHILL - Pedro Piedranuena became USBA champion for the 12th time in Lauderhill, Florida, in the final against Hugo Patino. The final match ended in a generous victory for Piedrabuena 40-16 in 16 innings with a highest run of 16, maintaining Pedro's 30 points in the UMB rankings and his current 36th position in the rankings.
The championship was dominated in the final by the two players with the biggest record list in the USA. Pedro Piedrabuena won his 12th title, Hugo Patino remained on a total of four titles. Completing the podium were Dutchman Raymon Groot, who lives in New York for several years, and Quoc Tuan Vo.
In the quarter-finals, Piedrabuena beat Herman Pattaroyo 40-19 in 24/23, Hugo Patino won against David Ramirez 40-35 in 39, Quoc Tuan Vo beat John Park 40-39 in 50 and Raymon Groot, in an excellent match, won against Kang Lee 40-14 in 29 with the best run of the tournament. Raymon Groot scored an 18 to be stranded 1 carom from the finish.
