Korean fans show their joy for the PBA tournament winner

SEOUL - The PBA/LPBA Tour of the professional Korean organization starts on July 6 with the first event of the new season. The total cycle in 2020/2021 consists of seven tournaments, including the final event that will be played in March 2021. The professional tour will be expanded with a team league this season in which six teams with 5 players participate in six tournaments. The organization adheres to the measures prescribed due to the COVID 19 virus. Spaniard David Martinez captained the rankings after the first PBA season.

The PBA organization has launched a Dream Tour this week, a try-out, which counts as a pre-selection to join the PBA tour. Some 300 players participate in this pre-tournament, of which the best ranked players are admitted to the PBA cycle or receive a wildcard.

The 2019/2020 season, the first of the PBA, was stopped after the outbreak of the Corona virus. The final event could not be played. The non-Koreans David Martinez, Filipos Kasidokostas, Frédéric Caudron, Javier Palazón, Eddy Leppens, Birol Uymaz, Juan Zapata and Pedro Piedrabuena were invited to participate. For the women's final among others Mi-rae Lee, Namiko Hayashi, Bo-mi Kim and Jung-suk Lim.

The 2020/2021 PBA Tour will be launched in Seoul, at the Grand Walkerhill hotel, Gwangjin-gu, with the SK Rent-a-car tournament. The team competition starts on August 20 for six rounds, concluded by play-offs and a final round. The winner receives 100 million Korean won (72,000 euros), the number two 50 million. The teams that are already known (four PBA players and one LPBA player:

TS-JDX Heroes with Filipos Kasidokostas, Robinson Morales and Mi-rae Lee.
Welcome Savings Bank with Frédéric Caudron, Birol Uymaz, Hyun-min Seo.
Shinhan Investment with Jung-ju Shin, Seong-uk Oh, Ga-young Kim.

The program for the PBA/LPBA Tour:
1st tournament: July 6-10, 2020
2nd tournament: October 1-4, 2020
3rd Tour: October 29-November 2, 2020
4th Tour: December 10-14, 2020
5th Tour: January 14-18, 2021
6th Tour: February 11-14, 2021
7th Tour (final): March 13-20, 2021.

The top three in the table of prize money after the previous season were:
1 David Martinez $ 116,000
2 and 3: Frédéric Caudron/Filipos Kasidokostas $ 92,000.
