ANDERNOS - The 45th birthday of Spanish Colombian Robinson Morales is one for the player himself not to soon forget. In the French team competition, this week, Morales won the match for his Saint Quentin team against Dick Jaspers 40-22 in 14 innings! Robinson was looking at a 15-7 deficit in 7 innings, when he exploded in the following innings with 5-7-5-4-4-1-7-4 (33 in 7) for a stunning victory against the Dutchman.
Dick Jaspers' team nevertheless grabbed the overall win in the match that was a repeat of last year's final. Intermarché won by victories of Nikos Polychronopoulos against Johan Loncelle (40-28 in 20), Francis Connesson against Mathieu Franck (40-28 in 40) and a draw by Bernard Baudoin against Nathan Duriez.
In this group, Albert won the away match against Courbevoie 0-8 thanks in part to Peter Ceulemans, who beat Vahit Kunt in 33 innings, and Jef Philipoom, who won against Echeverry in 23 innings.
The other team from Andernos, led by Roland Forthommer, is leader in the other group of the D1 division. The team won over Soissons 5-3. Roland Forthomme beat Martin Horn 40-32 in 21 innings and Marco Zanetti defeated Jérémy Bury 40-36 in 20. In that group, Gravelines won the match against Douarnenez with an excellent team-average 1.509. Best winner was Frédéric Roelant, who beat Adrien Tachoire 40-25 in 21 innings. The two Belgian encounters ended in victories for Martin Spoormans (against Francis Forton in 27) and Philippe Vandendriessche (against Steven van Acker with 40-39 in 25).
