BERGISCH-GLADBACH - The two leaders in the German bundesliga played a double weekend and took both the maximum points. Martin Horn was the starplayer for Bergisch Gladbach. His team won, without Torbjörn Blomdahl, the new vice-world champion and number one in the world, its two home matches against Sterkrade and Krefeld.
The key player on Sunday was Martin Horn, who is in great form as he showed in the Lausanne Billard Masters. That makes it even more sad that the German (temporarily) is not playing in the international competitions.
Will he change his mind very soon? Horn said in front of the Kozoom camera in Lausanne: ,,This success makes me thinking again about my future. I will decide in the coming few weeks whether I will return in the World Cup circuit.’’
Horn put up with a wonderful performance in the match against Krefeld with a 40-15 victory in ten innings (run of 15). Bergisch had an excellent team average: 1.777.
Ravensburger, playing without Tayfun Tasdemir, but with Murat Naci Coklu, took a simple win in the away match against Munich. Klaus Bösel was the best man for the team, he defeated Kai Siepman in 17 innings (40-19). Coklu bested Michael Puse 40-27 in 22, Birol Uymaz won in 44 innings.
Bergisch played on Saturday against Sterkrade (6-2). Martin Horn won with one carom difference against Belgian Thomas Broux (40-39 in 27), Dave Christiani knocked down Ramazan Durdu (40-19 in 19), Markus Dömer won in 44 innings vs Roger Lier and Carsten Rapsel defeated Thomas Horcher.
On Sunday, Horn was the star player for Bergisch with his 40-15 win in 10 innings against Thrsten Frings. Dave Christiani bested Dirk Weeremans (40-37 in 29), Markus Dömer was too strong for Thomas Kerl in 19 innings and Thomas Horcher won in 32 against Tom Löwe.
BC Elversberg kept the score in balance with one win and one loss. The home game against Krefeld was lost 5-3 (Peter Ceulemans and Thorsten Frings played a draw in 25, Dirk Weeremans defeated Michael Nilsson in an excellent match, 40-22 in 22).
On Sunday, Elversberg took the victory with the maximum score against Sterkrade. Michael Nilsson was the best man with a win against Durdu (40-19 in 27), Peter Ceulemans defeated his compatriot Thomas Broux 40-30 in 37.
The Ravensburg team still tops the ranking, only one point ahead of Bergisch-Gladbach and two points ahead of the defending champion BCC Witten.
The last weekend is in three weeks, decisive for the ’autumn championship of 2014’. Bergisch plays against Velbert and Witten, Ravensburg against Krefeld and Sterkrade.
