One of the Turkish players during the second day of the World cup in Trabzon.

TRABZON - The winner of the day, the Turkish player Birol Uymaz, ended up with a score which was more than enough to seed for the next round in Trabzon. He was the best of the sixty players who came to the tables on Tuesday, with an average of 1.250. Additionally, he starred in his match against Halil Esref Dundan with a wonderful run of eleven.

There was a chance that only Turkish players ended up in top twenty. The Dutchman Wim van den Berg, who was a little lucky, disrupted the complete Turkish party and could barely reach that group of players who are automatically seeded. The Dutch player won a match and lost one, but will play today, based on his average.

Birol Uymaz was the leader of the group of twenty with sixty caroms in 48 innings, Mehmet Aksoy is a good second with sixty in 51 innings. Maviler Ali was the worst of the day with 0.271 average. Seven of the sixty players ended up with an average below 0.500.

Gülşen Degener pulled up her overall performance in her second match with a solid average of 0.755, but had wasted her qualification in her first match.

Jorge Bastos from Portugal, an old friend in the circuit, will no longer be in charge. He started with a win against Mehmet Altincekic, but then lost against Amir Tasdogan and must make the trip back to his homeland.

Jean van Erp from the Netherlands is the leader of the A-group today, in which he plays against Wim van den Berg and Frenchman Joel Switala. Pierre Soumagne plays in a mixed group with Feyiz Ildes Ugur (Turkey) and Emilio Sciacca (Italy).

Glenn Hofman (Netherlands) meets two Turks, Ozden and Ergün on his way, Jean Reverchon (France) also will meet two home players. Therese Klompenhouwer faces Khaled Salem from Egypt and Turkey Mehmet Saglam.

Murat Tüzül from Istanbul is playing against David Pennör, a man who scored high in the Swedish championship. José Maria Más, semi-finalist in the Spanish championships this Sunday, meets two Turkish opponents, just like Peter Ceulemans. The Spanish champion Antonio Ortiz is playing against Dave Christiani and Haluk Kara and the Korean junior world champion, Haeng Jik Kim, meets the Turks Ozdemir and Tar.
