ZUNDERT - Two winners in the first round of the Kozoom league, the premier three-cushiondivision in Holland, are hunting for the temporary leader on Sunday. The Brabant team from Zundert, with Sam van Etten on top, already won against J&F Auto's on Friday evening and is leading by four match points. They are target for Bousema and Team Babbelz in the second round this Sunday. Cues&Darts (Glenn Hofman) and Aartsbouw (Eddy Merckx) are waiting for first match point Bousema welcomes its home fans for the first time in the own arena with a real top match. Martin Horn faces Eddy Merckx, the undisputed standout (40 in 14) for his team in the first, lost match. Jeffrey Jorissen, Friday night's winner against Roland Forthomme in Belgium, takes on Turgay Orak. In that match, Jorissen is the only Dutchman: Bousema plays in this second round with 3, Aartsbouw with 4 foreign players.
The strong debutant Babbelz with a win over Cues travels to Sluiskil on Sunday. It will be a reunion for the Zeeland arena with Frédéric Caudron, who enjoyed big success for Dallinga. The Belgian come-back man will meet his compatriot Steven van Acker, who is in good form. Also at Dallinga-Babbels, both teams feature three foreigners at the tables: five Belgians in total and Dane Dion Nelin.
At Cues&Darts against RCN Nieuwegein, there is an orange ball though. Glenn Hofman, Huub Wilkowski and Joey de Kok play for the home team, Dave Christiani, Barry van Beers and Gerwin Valentijn for Nieuwegein. Glenn Hofman was this week's guest of honour at the Women's World Championship in Blois, where he is captain in the strong French team.
Two former teammates meet on Sunday in SIS/Vervoort's match against Paperclip: Jean van Erp will battle Dick Jaspers. At Paperclip, Dan Breur was a surprise debutant last week with a win over Frans van Kuyk. His opponent is now called Raymund Swertz. De Biljartacademie makes the away trip to Team Eekhoorn, where Polychronopoulos-Forthomme is the nice poster for the first home match and Peter Ceulemans meets a good starter in Roy Zielemans.
Zundert played ahead for the second round on Friday evening, winning 6-2 over J&F Auto's. With Sam van Etten on top position, because Sergei Jimenez had problems with his flight from Spain, three games were won by Zundert. For J&F only Paul Bruijstens scored with a win over Rik van Beers (40-32 in 39). Sam van Etten beat Murat Gökmen (40-31 in 29), Thorsten Frings bossed Kay de Zwart and Francis Forton started for Zundert with a win over Herman van Daalen (40-23 in 29). That brings the Brabant team from D'n Hoek to the maximum 4 points from 2.
