Kozoom full gas to finish and play-offs

ALBERT - Two teams with chances for a place in the play-offs battled tonight in the last match in the French league. The home crowd of Albert had the illusion that the team with the Belgians Peter and Kurt Ceulemans and French Cédric Melnytschenko and Kevin Perrotin would have a shot at the playoffs. The Kozoom team disturbed the dream and won 0-8.

 Because of that result, the team of Bernard Baudoin, the coach, with Roland Forthomme, Peter De Backer, Marc Boignères and Frédéric Mottet will duel for the French title with Agipi, Laxou and the other team from Andernos.

Frédéric Mottet and Marc Boignères already made the gap to 0-4 before the break. Mottet won his match against Cédric Melnytschenko 50-43 in 50 innings and Marc Boigneres defeated the other young player of the home team, Kevin Perrotin, 50-40 in 42.

The maximum lead at the break was enough for Kozoom to reach the play-offs. The Belgian bump at the end was only for the statistics and played on a high level.

Roland Forthomme made the strongest impression when the match sprang to life. The Belgian champion shut down every move of his opponent, who averaged around two for a long time, but could not resist Forthomme in the last part of the game.

Forthomme ran to 48-34 with a 9 in the 17th inning and slipped through the finish three innings later.

Peter De Backer had a flawless start against Kurt Ceulemans, fell back slightly in the second part, but topped his opponent with ease, 50-25 in 27.
