ATHENS - The Acropolis trophy belongs for the third time in a row to Filippos Kasidokostas. The former Greek and world champion was the best again in the tournament held in the famous Trisponto club near to the Acropolis in Athens. In the final, Kasidokostas defeated Kostas Kokkoris 40-35 in eighteen innings. The overall victory in the Acropolis Trisponto was Kasidokostas' third in three editions with a supremacy that was seldom seen. The winner finished 2.500 average and also recorded the highest run of the tournament (13). And finally, Kasidokostas played the best match 3.077 average.
From the eighth finals, Kasidokostas was superior to the other contenders: he successively defeated Evangelis Moulos in thirteen innings (3.077), Kostas Papakonstantinou 40-33 in 17, Nick Polychronopoulos 40-15 in 14 and Kokkoris 40-35 in 18 innings.
Kostas Kokkoris outplayed Dani Sánchez in a thrilling, hard-fought match in the quarters on one carom: 40-39 in 25 innings. In this match round Polychronopoulos beat Adnan Yüksel (40-38 in 24) and Dionisis Tsokantas defeated Savas Bulut 40-36 in 49.
Polychronopoulos played two excellent matches before he was knocked out without any chance by Kasidokostas. The Greek champion defeated Birol Uymaz 40-13 in 20 innings and Anagnostopoulos 40 in 15 innings. Dani Sánchez had a flawless start against Giannakopoulos 40-6 in 15.
