GOYANG - He already has a PBA world title to his name and has now won his second PBA tour since his transfer to the Korean professional league. Jae-ho Cho defeated Eddy Leppens 4-1 in sets this Thursday in the final, untouchable as he was in that final match. The little Korean won the first two sets 15-13 and 15-5, Leppens came back once, 15-12, but in the next two sets Cho was the better player again with 15-5 and 15-11: average 2,250 for Cho, 1,581 for Leppens. Remarkable in that score: Cho made 22 bank shots, good for two points, Leppens only 6.
Jae-ho Cho had his toughest fight in the semi-finals, where he battled Spaniard Antonio Montes for a place in the final. Montes led 3-1, Cho came back strongly and won the three last sets (4-1). Eddy Leppens defeated Dong-woo Han 4-1 in that semi-final.
Until this 7th PBA tournament, sponsored by High 1 Resort, the Korean Cho only took 15 million Korean won, 11,000 in euros. After this victory, that amount is 115 million, 81,000 euros. Eddy Leppens has earned 10,500 euros so far, which is now around 45,000 euros after the final he lost.
The leader of the rankings is still Javier Palazón with 147 million won, ahead of David Martinez with 117 million, Jae-ho Cho with 115 and Semih Sayginer with 112 million.
The top 20 of that ranking includes 9 Koreans, 4 Spaniards, 3 Turks, 2 Vietnamese, 1 Japanese and 1 (the only) Belgian.
