The winning Italian team, superior in the world of 5 Pins

ANTALYA - At the European 5 Pins Championship for national teams, Italy's team once again showed its supremacy. The team with Andrea Quarta, Michelangelo Aniello, Paolo Marcolin, Achille Mignolo and Pierluigi Sagnella prolonged the European title in Antalya 2023! In the two group matches and the three final matches leading to the title, the Italians did not lose a single, double or relay.

It is a perfect record with two 5-0 victories in the group stage as the whole match is played at this stage and three 3-0 victories in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final as the matches are stopped as soon as victory is achieved.

Denmark 1 (Kasper Kristoffersen, Erling Sjørup, Rune Kampe, Thomas Jaeger, Johnni Pedersen) did as well as Italy in the group stage with two 5-0 wins and a better points average than the eventual winners. The chance of a resit brought Denmark 1 against Denmark 2 (Thomas Andersen, René Andersen, Lars Nielsen, Oliver Pind, Lukas Mortensen) in the quarter-finals and provided the surprise! The team that was No 8 in the quarter-finals beat No 1 3-2!

France (Guillaume Rouby, Xavier Guérin, Christophe Duvernoy, Florian Guingand, Alexis Lemâtre) won their group with two 4-1 victories putting them in fourth place for the quarter-finals. Against Belgium, they qualified 3-0 without using the relay! In the semi-finals, the Tricolores were defeated by Denmark 2 with a score of 4-1. The relay decided the fate of this competition, the French being rewarded with a bronze medal as well as Germany (Max Gabel, Martin Maltzahn, Sven Petzke, Christopher Schock, Toni Rosenberg) who were defeated by Italy in the semi-finals.
