SUWON – The top players arrive one by one for the Suwon World Cup, and would they be so kind as to take notice of what’s been going on so far? The Korean show of the first few days had its highlight today, on the third day of qualification: Hyun-Suk Kim started his match against Satoru Yoneyama from Japan, in the first set, with the maximum run of 15 points allbeit in the 4th inning.
He then lost the second set 15-3, but could look forward to his next match against Hugo Patino after a 2 – 1 win, 1.592 average. The American also beat Yoneyama 2-1, but not with an impressive average: 0.933.
There is still lots of tension in most of the groups, after two rounds. In flight A, Nalle Olsson did not have a very promising start, losing 1 – 2 and 0.892 for the Swede against Nam Ho Sin, but in the second match recovered somewhat with a victory over Japaneser Tatsuo Arai (2-0).
Dong Ryon Kim, one of the best players in the earlier qualification stages, defeated one of the female players: Kyung Hui Oh, who barely played 0.200.
Ho Gyu Kang beat Jae Guen Kim doing 1.428. Takehiro Onodera in flight D started with a loss against Hideaki Kobayashi, but then he won his match against Bülent Özdemir with 1.500 average.
Hyong Kon Kim defeated Minh Kam Ma and made a run of 11, but the Vietnamese bounced back with a vixtory over Claus Foge, also making an 11 run.
Allan Jensen in his first match got the better of one of the stars of the second day, Vietnamese Quiet Chien Tran: 2-1. The averages were very closer: 1.051/1.052. Tran did win his second match doing 1.800.
Young Chull Kim, two days the nr. 1 on the list, lost his first match against Jin Pyo Hong in an exciting encounter. The deciding set ended 15-14, the averages: 1.625 for Hong, 1.521 for Kim.
