SEOUL - The 21-year-old Korean Haeng Jik Kim, four-time junior world champion three cushion, had a brain stroke (cerebral emorrhage) in his country two days ago. He resides at the intensive care unit of a Korean hospital since Friday.
The doctors have determined that it is not easy to perfrom a brain surgery due to the bleeding inside the brain. They have to wait until the brain itself absorbs the blood.
The doctor is expecting to have an operation in a week.
Fortunately, Haeng Jik has a consciousness and he is quite young, so there is hope for recovering.
The young Korean was four times junior world champion. He won his first world title in Los Alcazares in the final match against Javier Palazón. Thereafter he defeated successively in the finals Kenny Miatton, Juntae Kim and last year the Turk Ömer Karakurt.
Haeng Jik Kim lived for several years in Germany and played amonst others for the Dutch team Sander Jonen.
