Grand Prix in Oosterhout to knock-out stages

OOSTERHOUT – Dutch player Raimond Burgman finished the qualifications of the Grand Prix in Oosterhout (Netherlands) with the best average (1.739) of sixteen players who start off in the main tournament today. Dick Jaspers and Barry van Beers are the ranking leaders after two tournaments.

Raimond Burgman, Glenn Hoffman (1.560), Dick Jaspers (1.500), Dave Christiani (1.481) and Jean van Erp (1.411) made the strongest impression in the preliminary rounds.
Glenn Hoffman was the best over one match, averaging 2.352, ahead of Jerry Herman, who was eliminated (2.272), Dave Christiani and Raimond Burgman (2.222) and Jack Wijnen (2.000).

Erwin Kivits and Hans de Groot were the most surprising names among the sixteen players for the final rounds. The two outsiders meet each other in the first knock-out session.

Dick Jaspers was group winner with 1.500 and advanced together with Jack Wijnen, who played a 2.000 average match against Bert van Manen. Van Manen defeated Therese Klompenhouwer in his last group match with a big margin.

Harrie van de Ven won Group G ahead of Martien van der Spoel and Jean Paul de Bruijn continued, despite a moderate 1.244 average, in the group with Hans de Groot as second with 1.019.

Hans de Groot signed, along with Glenn Hoffman, for the highest run in this round: 11.
