Grand Prix in Bogota to knock out phase

The GP Panamericano in Bogota has come to the final phase with sixteen players.

BOGOTA - The Grand Prix Panamericano the Billar, organized by the Club de Billares Rockefeller in Bogota, has reached the final knock out phase. Sixteen players have qualified for the main tournament. They will start with eight matches for a place in the quarter finals today. The field has a lot of internationally known players such as Robinson Morales, Alexander Salazar, Henry Diaz, Hugo Patino and the youth player Alejandro Piza.


Four players with big names stumbled in the preliminaries. Javier Teran from Ecuador and Julian Morales from Colombia finished third and fourth in their group, in which Arley Montoya and Herndo Perez were seeded. Carloman Ortiz lost in a group with only three and was beaten two times by Hugo Patino. Miguel Romero was already eliminated in the preliminary rounds with 64 players.

Two players from the Rockefeller organizing club will play for the places in the quarterfinals. Robinson Morales shone with the best average of sixteen: 1.935. Eleazar Ramirez was the winner in his group with 1.333.


The tournament had already a high level in the qualification rounds. Fernando Diaz sparkled with a best match of 2.000 average, Josue Torres with 1.875, Henry Diaz and Cesar Garzon 1.765 and Miguel Romero and Jose Juan Garcia with 1667.

Today at 13.00 (South American time) the first group of the sixteenth final comes to the start..
