Peter de Backer had a marvellous start in his match with Henk Blauwblomme.

SLUISKIL - The scoreboard of Eddy Leppens showed a 22-0 advantage after four innings. On the other was Peter de Backer on the lead by 20-5 in four and 44-8 after eleven innings. John Tijssens did it in the home match of Dekker Kitchens even better: Boum Boum Johnny made his first 29 caroms in four innings with runs of thirteen and ten. Better than Dick Jaspers on Saturday night in Antwerp where he won the Super Cup (!).

The sixteenth day of the league was the day of the racing starts, but also of the surprising victor by Roland Forthomme in his match with Dick Jaspers. The big money maker in Antwerp obviously was still tired from the night before. He stuck to 1.428 average. Roland Forthomme won the match 50-40 in 28 innings and partially due to this win the team of Snellen Recycling shared the score with the leader Van Donge en De Roo: 4-4.

In the home of Delta Sluiskil, the team that is now faster on the third place behind the two unapproachable leaders Van Donge en De Roo and Crystal Kelly, was a lot to enjoy for the spectators this afternoon. Peter de Backer played a great game against Henk Blauwblomme. The Delta player scored twelve points from the breakoff, made other runs of five, six and ten and finished in sixteen innings: 50-9.

His opponent later sighed: ,,I had four caroms on the scoreboard when the break was there and actually the match was over then.'' Peter de Backer characterized his race as a match in which all went well and he sometimes was a little lucky. ,,I have made one incredible ball, but also a few lucky shots'', he confessed.

Eddy Leppens continued the show in the second half of the match. The frontman of the team started against Ronny Brants with a lead of 22-0 in four innings, followed by 25-9 in six, but saw Brants slowly come back with sixteen caroms in the last three innings. The win of Leppens nevertheless was not in danger: 50-39 in 24. ,,My opponents are all on their best last weeks'', Brants said. ,,Last week it was Frans van Kuik who made his first 28 caroms in four innings.''

The Van Donge en De Roo team wasted a match point in the match with Snellen Recycling, not only by the loss of Dick Jaspers, also because Harry van der Ven beated Ruud Nieuwenburg, the substitute of Martin Horn, who had obligations in the German league.

Raimond Burgman was the best winner for Crystal Kelly with 27 innings against Peterson.

Dekker Keukens and Elmar Logistics played 4-4, the most remarkable win for Elmar noticed Francis Forton against Jef Philipoom. Murat Naci Coklu also keeps on winning in the Netherlands. The Turk defeated Eddy Merckx 50-48 in 35 innings.

Dave van Geel was an excellent winner in the lower regions of the ranking. He defeated Kees Wittens 50-24 in 28 innings, partially due to that win the match between Twentevisie and Verbrugge ended up in 4-4.
