PARIS - In the CetSi Morangis billiards room near to Paris, the French team championship will be played this weekend. Four teams have qualified for the play-offs during the regular season. The matches, on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, will be broadcast live on Kozoom for Premium pass holders. Raymond Ceulemans is the guest of honor.
The title holder is the foursome of CetSi Morangis with Eddy Merckx, Eddy Leppens, Richard Bitalis and Jean Reverchon. The team wants to rehabilitate itself in the French title race after the disappointing performance in the European Cup in Porto last weekend. CetSi is the main contender: in the regular season the reigning champion played 1.573 overall average.
The group winner CetSi plays in the semifinals against Laxou, on Saturday at 13.30. Torbjörn Blomdahl will not play, because he is one of the players in the FC Porto team in the final six of the Portuguese competition. The German Martin Horn also will not show up for Laxou. The team therefore appears in a fantasy line-up.
Andernos faces Albert at 17.30. The Albert team, with Dion Nelin, reached the play-offs for the first time in history. Peter Ceulemans is the leading player of Albert, but his wife Bettina is waiting for the birth of their second child, due very soon. ,,When it starts, I will not be able to play. We expect the baby for next week, but it can be earlier'', says Ceulemans.

Vier teams hebben zich in de reguliere competitie geplaatst voor de play-offs. De wedstrijden op zaterdag 11 en zondag 12 juni worden voor Premium pashouders live uitgezonden door Kozoom. Op de finaledagen is Raymond Ceulemans eregast.

Na een teleurstellend optreden in de Europa Cup in Porto, wil het team zich revancheren in de Franse titelstrijd. CetSi is de grote kanshebber: in het reguliere seizoen haalde de regerend kampioen 1.573 gemiddeld.
Als eerste in de poule speelt CetSi in de halve finale tegen Laxou, zaterdagmiddag om 13.30 uur. Torbjörn Blomdahl speelt niet, omdat hij in Portugal in de finaleronde uitkomt met FC Porto. Ook Martin Horn speelt niet, zodat Laxou in een fantasieopstelling moet aantreden.
Andernos speelt tegen Albert om 17.30 uur. Het team van Albert staat dank zij de inbreng van de Deen Dion Nelin voor het eerst in de play-offs. Peter Ceulemans is de kopman van Albert, maar zijn vrouw Bettina staat op het punt van bevallen. ,,Als het begint, zal ik niet kunnen spelen. Ze is uitgerekend voor volgende week, maar het kan altijd eerder zijn'', aldus Ceulemans.
