PARIS - The French billiards federation has decided to finish nationwide all competitions after a speech by the president of the country. The league's competition committee focuses on the sequel in the new season. The federation announced this on its website and on kozoom. The top league team competition, with seven teams in the final phase, will no longer be played.
The mail from the French secretariat sent to members:
"Following the speech by the President of the Republic, to announce the continuation of the lockdown to May 11 and then a gradual lifting over several months, the national sports committees noted the impossibility of planning the latest events under these conditions. In view of this situation and the uncertainties that emphasize the health plan in the medium term, the steering committee has decided to close the 2019-2020 sports season and to cancel all other events for all disciplines.
The sports season 2019-2020 thus ended immediately. The FFB's sports committees and sports center will consider the conditions to prepare for the new 2020-2021 season with regard to the rankings. This concerns in particular the promotions and relegations of the teams in the various divisions and all other provisions that require adjustment in the current exceptional situation.
The period for limiting and stopping activities can now be used to plan the post-covid period, and reflect on the orientations of the federal project 2021-2024, which will further develop our shared passion.''
