MALLE - Frédéric Caudron had already recovered from the marathon of matches at the Belgian championship in Blankenberge. With Roland Forthomme it is like the weather these days, according to a Dutch saying: one day there's frost, the other there's thaw.
The new Belgian champion was the center of glory on Sunday, two days later, he couldn't score more than 39 points in 46 innings for his team Zanzibar in the league, a poor average of 0.847.
Kurt Ceulemans defeated the new champion in a very moderate match and led his team to a win over KBC Zanzibar (6-2). Raymond Ceulemans and his son Koen took the full profit for Mr. 100 Lier, the old master with the best average of the night (1.400).
Frédéric Caudron said on the closing day of the championship for the Kozoom camera: ,,We have finished the championship now, but there's more than that, every game is important.'' He showed it immediately in the home match with De Goeie Queue against BC Biljart Express, an important duel for the third place.
Maybe it took one hour, maybe a little more, before Caudron finished his match against Frans van Kuyk. The whirlwind played a magnificent match again: 50-24 in 16 innings (3.125 average) with a high run of 19.
Yet, De Goeie Queue could not grab the full win, because Eddy Leppens, the other finalist in Blankenberge on Sunday, lost his match against Gerwin Valentijn 50-45 in 40 innings. Peter Ceulemans played an excellent 1.909 in his duel with Martin Spoormans (42-34 in 22), good for a draw in the match.
BC De Witte Molen kept the profits at home against KBC Kortrijk (6-2). Francis Forton played the best match of the evening with a 50-28 victory in 36 against Cédric Melnytschenko.
